- CSS Mastery by Andy Budd et al. Some good simple tricks in this book. Easy to read.
- Designing with Web Standards, 3rd edition. by Jeffrey Zeldman and Ethan Marcotte. Earlier versions of this book are part of what sparked my passion (or is it obsession?) for standards based design. Lots of information in this book making a business case for standards based design as well.
- Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability by Steve Krug. This should be required reading for anyone that touches development of a front end interface.
- Mobile Web Design Practical advice for those just embarking into mobile development. Quick read.
- The Brand Gap Easy and great read by Marty Neumeier about what brand really is, what it isn’t, and how to achieve it. Read it easily on the plane to San Fran from Dallas.
Business
- A New Brand World by Scott Bedbury. Good read from a guy who was in the trenches at Nike and Starbucks during their rises to success. Puts the buzz around branding in perspective. I may have to secretly give a copy to the CEO for Christmas.
- Presentation Zen by Garr Reynolds. Inspiration for presentation. As the book says, you can be creative. Easy and interesting ideas on how to be more creative in your presentations and how to kill death by PowerPoint.
- Rework Refreshing book about how to handle a business and life. HIGHLY recommended for anyone who runs a software development team. Your code monkeys will love you for it.
Personal Growth and Fun
- More Than Enough Another Dave Ramsey book. This is very motivational and personally inspiring. It’s the kind of stuff you’d want your parents to teach you and that you want to teach your kids.
- Total Money Makeover This book is changing my famliy tree. I’ve always wanted to stop having debt and now that vision is becoming a reality. This is an easy, must read for anyone that wants to build wealth. Dave rocks!
